Digital passes without the app burden
A richer pass experience—with nothing to install.
Many loyalty and membership systems depend on a customer app, then add a separate staff scanner app or dedicated counter hardware. ManagedMember works through secure browser experiences and the phones or tablets people already have, while also supporting Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.
ManagedMember versus app-dependent systems
Remove the installation step on both sides of the counter.
An app can be useful when customers already use it frequently. For a local membership, occasional voucher or loyalty card, however, every download and new login adds another chance for the customer or staff member to stop.
| Experience | ManagedMember | App-dependent setup |
|---|---|---|
| Customer access | Open instantly. Scan a QR code or follow a secure link to use a Browser Pass. Add a supported Wallet card if preferred. | Can require an app-store visit, download, permissions, account creation and remembering where the app is later. |
| Business use | Use any connected device. Scan from a phone or tablet already at the business, or authorise the action on the customer’s phone. | Can require a separate staff scanner app, compatible logins or dedicated counter hardware. |
| Joining | One business QR opens the join or sign-in page. The customer can receive and use the pass without installing anything. | Customers may need to install and learn the platform before they can join one business program. |
| Brand experience | The business logo, artwork, program details and useful links stay at the centre of the experience. | The platform’s interface and navigation can compete with the individual business brand. |
| Counter actions | Add stamps, redeem value or validate a pass by scanning with any device—or directly from the open Browser Pass using the protected business PIN. | Staff may need to find, install, update and remain signed in to a separate operational app. |
| Ongoing access | The secure pass link remains useful across devices, and recognised customers can return to their linked ManagedMember businesses. | Access can depend on the customer retaining and updating the correct app. |

Why Browser Pass is more flexible
It is not confined to a fixed Wallet template.
Wallet cards use structured layouts so they remain consistent inside Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Browser Pass can use a much broader canvas: distinct front and back designs, full-face imagery, longer information, richer links and interactive controls. That makes it better suited to premium branding and more complex customer relationships.
Stamping and redemption
Choose the fastest path for the moment.
Both methods use the same business program and update the same customer record. Nothing needs to be downloaded or installed by the business or customer.
Business scans the pass
Staff use any internet-connected phone or tablet to scan the QR code on the customer’s Browser Pass or Wallet card. The protected action page opens ready to add stamps, redeem value or validate the pass.
Use the customer’s phone
The customer opens the Browser Pass and taps the relevant action. Staff enter the business PIN, complete the transaction and hand the phone back. The pass returns to customer mode automatically.
Programs and pass types
One platform for more than a loyalty card.
The business configures each program once. Browser Pass and supported Wallet designs can then present the same live customer relationship in the format that suits the moment.

Frequently asked questions
The practical differences.
Do customers need to install anything?
No. The Browser Pass opens from a QR code, SMS, email or secure link in the customer’s normal browser. A supported Wallet card is optional and included.
Does the business need a scanner app?
No. Staff can scan with the camera on any internet-connected phone or tablet, or authorise stamping and redemption directly on the customer’s Browser Pass.
Is Browser Pass simply an image of a card?
No. It is connected to the live customer and program record. It can display current information, switch between front and back designs, provide useful links and support protected actions.
Does Browser Pass replace Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?
It does not need to. Browser Pass provides the more flexible design and interactive experience, while Wallet remains a convenient way to carry supported cards. ManagedMember includes both.
Can Browser Pass and Wallet use the same program?
Yes. A business can configure a supported membership, stamp or prepaid program once and give its Browser Pass and Wallet versions their own appropriate designs.
